Does the post Office have to have a key?
Only you have the keys to your individual mailbox- the Post Office never does. However, if you receive mail in a group box, the postal carrier uses a master key to load incoming mail into your mail compartment

How does the Post Office drop off my Mail?
Your mail carrier does not need access to your mailbox. Your mail is dropped through an incoming chute and is held securely in the locked compartment until you take it out.

What about Packages?
Postal carriers treat packages that are too large for your locking mailbox in the same way they do now. They might deliver a package to your door or leave you an "Attempt to deliver" notification with instructions on how to arrange for delivery.

Does my neighborhood have to have group Boxes?
If you live in an older neighborhood, you might be permited to install individual boxes.However,you need to estabish communication with your Postmaster early so you can agree on what you want and where you want to place the mailbox.
